I broke down and got a "How To" book

Those of you who know me know I hate reading "how to" books. But we can't take the sleeplessness anymore. Last night, Veronica bruised my right ribcage with her midnight machinations. Co-sleeping just isn't an option with a budding black belt. Remind me to sign her up for karate. I broke down and went to the library and found the "No-cry sleep solution for toddlers". I have to try something, and letting her cry hasn't worked for anyone. She hates it, and we can't sleep with her screaming so there has to be a better way. Tonight, I followed the suggested bedtime routine and it only took me 45 minutes to have her bathed, teeth brushed, massaged, read to, danced with, nursed and asleep. That's not bad! It was much better than I expected! I hope the middle of the night waking will go as easily. We'll see. I'll report back in the morning.

In the meantime, I now have time to update you on some photos! Veronica has a best friend. Her doggie, Isabelle. We were worried about Isabelle in the beginning because she's been known to be aggressive a time or two so we were all set to send her to the glue factory when the baby was born. However, they've developed a bond and a friendship that is really surprising and sweet. Veronica loves her puppy and she hugs and kisses her all the time. We've taught her to be gentle and loving and she always is! Isabelle has always been very sweet and attentive to Veronica. She never runs from her, but has been known to snark a cookie out of her hand. The jury is still out on how much encouragement she gets from Veronica! I think Veronica likes to have someone to eat the food she doesn't want! It sure beats hiding it in her milk. Here's some photos of the two of them having some lovey time.

Have patience! It will work once she gets the idea that yo're going to be consistent with it. It will be better for her too. She needs the sleep as much as you do! :-}
