Rant

So, something is bothering me and of course I'm going to blog about it. I come from a family of petite people. Until I lost control over my weight after college I had a devil of a time finding clothes to fit me. Unbelievably, I was a size 0 for most of my teen years. I was finally able to stop shopping in the children's department around the age of 17 when a new store opened up at the mall called 5,7,9 that carried 0's and 2's. It was the only store in which I could find decent fitted clothing. Then there's the shoe issue. We also have narrow feet. We had to shop at one store that was the only store that would carry narrow shoes and most had to be ordered and they were very expensive. Yet, every Payless you go to carries double wide shoes. And every store you go to has a Plus Size section. (Okay ladies, don't freak out on me...I'm happy there are plus size options considering there didn't used to be) But what about the tiny people? It's very very hard to find decent clothes for small people! We were just lucky my mother knew how to alter clothes!

Veronica is going to have these issues. She is just like me. She's tiny. Very very tiny. She's 3 but she's still in a 2T (the hardest size to find btw.) And when I decided to sign her up for ballet class I was informed I had to get her a leotard and tights. Thus the hunt began. Every single store I went to (and I went to 3) and called (and I called at least 6 including specialty stores) only carry size 4 and up. I tried a 4 on her and she was swimming in it. I'm just wondering if the obesity epidemic isn't adding to my problem. Admittedly, Veronica is smaller than the average 3-year-old. But I can't help but think that the plethora of chubby ones are screwing up the shopping selection.

Thank God for online shopping. I did manage to find her size online and for a reasonable price (although I would have rather not paid the shipping). But here's my request. All of you out there with overweight kids...PUT THEM ON A DIET! Not just for my sake...for who really cares about my inconvenience except me...but for their own sake! Let them live past the age of 35! Why are we just making clothes bigger? Why aren't we just saying it? Put them on a flipping diet before they have a coronary at age 11 okay? Cheetos are not a food group! (And I'm talking directly to you, Angelina Jolie, who are going to have a half-dozen porkers on your hands if you don't trash the junk food. Every photo of those kids they're mawing a bag of chips and guzzling sodas. Ever heard of raisins?)

Admittedly, I could not be considered "tiny" anymore. And in the coming months I will be as round as a beachball, and after the baby I'll get back on the weight loss wagon...but the point is, I'm an adult. I was never a fat kid. My parents controlled what I ate....as they should. As an adult you make the decision about what you eat and what your weight will be. But to allow your children to get fat before they leave the house is just CRUEL. It's one thing if they do it to themselves in college like everyone does...but to start them out at a disadvantage is just dereliction of duty. You're setting them up for ridicule at school, social distress, and most importantly a crisis of health!

Happy New Year!

The Roller Coaster

This was the big present this year. It's a big hit too. She's been playing with it all day today and yesterday. Hope it lasts!

Merry Christmas!

Veronica got a new bed! She's having a little "adjustment" period going to sleep in it (we have to lie down with her, but at least it's big enough to do that!) She loves playing on it during the day though! The top bunk is her new playhouse and the bottom is where she sleeps.

Christmas Eve with Gramma and Pa! Veronica was very happy to see them and gave lots of hugs and kisses.

Auntie Cassie and Kayla wearing silly headbands...it's traditional. Traditional silliness.
New baby Jon! We call him "Fat Santa"

Family Fun

This is the coolest bank! Veronica got such a kick out of it. You drop a coin in the top and watch it make it's way into the bottom.

Cuddling with the silliest, most loving moose of a dog who thinks he's a lap dog. This is Logan. LOVE this dog.

Beautiful princess...

Wall-E and Eve! She's been sleeping with them since.

This was hysterical....Gramma got wigs for the girls. I don't know why I don't have a photo of kayla in hers. I must have missed it.

Christmas morning!

She loves Island Barbie and this is the dress!

Merry Christmas everyone! I'll try to get the videos up soon!

New phrases

Veronica totally cracks me up. Today while waiting for her photo to be taken she was playing at a leggo table with another little girl. The girl told her she couldn't play with the leggo's and Veronica said very nicely but firmly, "Yes I can. My Mommy said so." LOL

Then this evening we were sitting on the couch and she shook my hand and brightly said, "Nice to meet'ya!" Sarah Palin would be proud. I asked her where she heard that and she wouldn't tell me. But it was so funny!

Just now she says, "Just COME ON and get me a drink!"

Toddler Thoughts

I've been meaning to write down some funny things Veronica has been saying lately. Whenever I hand her chocolate milk she says, "Dats-a-me chocolate?"

The other day I hurt my back and had to go to the doctor for a shot of some kind of muscle relaxer and she was with me so I told her, "I'm going to show you how Mommy gets a shot. I'm not even going to cry!" And she looked at me and said, "That's ridiculous!"

And now she has an imaginary friend. His name is Bibbo and he's a bee. She's so cute playing with this friend. He comes with us to the park and goes down the slides with her

More Potty Tales

Port-a-pottys are getting much nicer. Here we are at a pumpkin patch and little Miss Veronica is wearing big girl panties and going on the potty! We've stopped wearing pullups now and I wish I had given them up months ago. It has only taken her about a week to figure out that it doesn't feel nice to be wet. You should see the crab walk she does when she has an accident. It's hysterical.

Each day has seen more progress than the one before. Today, she came to me twice before she had to go and made it to the potty in time. She's only had one accident today! She even made it through a 2 hour nap! It's very exciting.

I know I haven't been very good about posting on here regularly. I've been distracted with the election and everything. Voter fraud...doesn't it just burn you? I'm seriously wondering where we might have to go if it all goes south here. Is there anywhere left that isn't run by socialists? That's just depressing. So lets talk about what we've been doing to block out all the reality.

This is a really cool pit filled with corn kernels that you can roll around in. It's super fun!

Fake-o-smile

She waited for this particular horse. She loved his spots.

Crazy Hair Fox

Finally! A picture WITH Mommy.

New Addition

We have a new addition to our family! This is Jonathan! Born Sept. 8th, he is Veronica's newest cousin. We are so happy he's finally here! Cassie is doing well and so is the baby. We're all blissed out by the new baby smell. Congratulations Cassie and Chris!

Polka Dot Dreams

I didn't want to forget this. Today, when I woke Veronica up from her nap she sleepily reached out her hand as if holding something and said to me, "Did you see the polka dots? I was sleeping."

Priceless.

NY trip and random summer things

"Flight attendants, prepare for take off. Does anybody know how to get this thing off the ground? More importantly, are there any fruit snacks in the cabin?"

"Altitude meter, check. Fuel guage, check. Navigational devices all pointed toward Disney World, check."

Veronica and I just got back from visiting our good friends in NYC, Kenlynne and Bill and their expected baby Kenna! We spent a lot of time in the backs of cabs. (Note to self; walk more.) Thanks to Kenlynne and Bill for such a wonderful time! We so enjoyed our stay. You have beautiful homes and more importantly, a beautiful family. We love you three! xoxoxoxo

I think I ate too many fruit snacks....GET ME OUTTA HERE!

Kenlynne, Bill and Kenna

Veronica meeting Kenna for the first time

Annoying Kenna already.

I'll be poolside. I just love East Hampton

Veronica loves it too!

On the bus back to NYC from the Hamptons

Here are some photos of Kenlynne and Bill's new home in Tribeca...so gorgeous! They bought it fully furnished from a Sopranos cast member.

Here's Veronica in Central Park at the 72nd Street playground. A very odd social situation. Lots of nannies not paying attention to their charges.
